So today the 2017 Door to door challenge got rolling. Alex and Al drove south to Bobby's house ready for the start tomorrow, Saturday.
We decided to take the opportunity to drive the route, all be it in reverse.

Just north of Mofat. Will climb this on Friday |
Normally when going direct down the motorway the drive would take about 3.5 hours.
We arrived in Gt Harwood seven hours after starting. We did visit every campsite and have a look at the facilities and tent fields.
Some of the B roads we traveled down were beautiful.

View of M6 at top of Shap. |
When driving from Penrith to Kendel we took a small road that was going to lead to the campsite and reduce the time on the A6 main road. We quickly found out that this very narrow road was closed due to the bridge having collapsed. The GPS quickly came to our aid and we re routed to another road.
The last leg, which will be our route tomorrow, took us over the trough or Bowlan. This is especially beautiful on sunny day and we were able to pick a location for lunch tomorrow. But i recon it will look different in the rain that is forecasted for tomorrow.
