A really nice relaxed breakfast
With such a good start to the day we were tempted by Alex saying he would catch us up for lunch with some Pasties.
Soon after startling the 34.5 mile ride to just north of Carlisle we were coming across beautiful sign posts. There were all cast iron. So we decided that today we would capture images of some of the best

Made it to Penrith

Well there were a lot of them :0)

Apart from the sign posts we had a good climb at the start of the day along the now normal leafy lanes

Still rain in those clouds

First Selfie of the day

Once the climb was done we found we were on a general down hill for the rest of the days ride. This was fantastic and were made great time

While Bobbie and I were slogging a away on the road, Alex dropped in to Hutton in the Forest on the exact day when the Rolls Royce owners club were in residence.
Some of these are amazing cars

Some people have all the luck :0) Good find Alex

We cycled through lunch to make the campsite by 13.05. A really good cycle.
The camp site was deserted when we arrived so we had the lovely pasties that Alex had bought for us.
After Lunch we had a relax and still no one from the campsite turned up. We ran and we waited.
At about 15:00 we decided we had had enough and researched the next available site. We cycled another 10 miles to the next site. Alex had got there before us and found the owner apparently high on something so decided not to stay there. Next we looked up the caravan site in Gretna, "Strictly NO Tents", ok so not there. So we decided to try the campsite just outside Longtown. Again Alex covered the 4 miles before us and found the place deserted. Looked like it had closed down.
So now we had cycled an extra 14 miles north with no luck. We decided we would cut our losses and cycle to Gretna, another 3 miles long the road and put the bikes on the back of the car and go to a known  good caravan site, 50 miles away. Its so good to have a car to use :0)
When arriving in Gretna we crossed the Scottish border
Made it to Scotland

It was a wee bit cramped in the car.

So after covering 52.3 miles today we going to rejig the route. We will take our day off tomorrow and then go back to Gretna on Thursday and cycle to Moffat and stay in the camp site there. The  on the Friday up to Bigger and back on schedule.

Well yet again its late and I need some sleep.

So will give another update tomorrow. Who knows maybe Bobby will go paddling 😉
